We gather to listen to God, pray, and praise Him in joyful celebration. (Sundays 10:30 am September-May, 10:00 am Summertime) Our nursery is available during services for children up to age 4.
Worship
True worshipers will worship the Father… in spirit and in truth. John 4:23 These words of Jesus guide our understanding and practice of worship at Grace Lutheran. For God has revealed himself in truth. He has done so in nature, his word spoken through the apostles and prophets, and chiefly in his son, Jesus. Hebrews 1:1-2
We believe that true worship is our spiritual response to God in which we gratefully, reverently, lovingly, and actively give ourselves to him who first gave himself to us. Such devotion encompasses the whole person in the whole life. Matthew 22:37
God calls his worshiping people into community around Jesus Christ. As we unite in worship of the Father, the Holy Spirit administers his grace to us through his Word and Sacraments. In worship we are not left where we once were, but are drawn deeper into the life transforming truth. Colossians 3:16-17
Grace Lutheran at Worship
Grace worships in the rhythm of the seasons of the Church year (Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost). These recall, in a regular cycle, the life and teachings of Jesus on which our worship centers.
A typical worship service consists of hymns, scripture readings, prayers, preaching, offerings (music, testimony, money), and frequently the sacraments. These are presented in a simple and orderly fashion, which we believe encourages the serious reflection and active participation by the entire congregation that true worship requires.
We enjoy a heritage of God’s people at worship over thousands of years. As 21st century Christians, we draw on their wealth of experience. Our Lutheran hymnal features an excellent collection of familiar hymns and gospel songs that encompass the broad scope of Biblical teaching. These have proven true to God’s word and human spiritual experience. Use of the hymnal allows each generation of worshipers to praise God in one voice, with a common spiritual vocabulary. Our singing is accompanied primarily by organ and piano as instruments that encourage congregational participation.
True worship calls for the best we can offer God. In our public gatherings we encourage the use of the gifts he has given the congregation that promote unity in Jesus Christ and growth in his grace through worship. Ephesians 4:1-16
“You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” I Peter 2:9
